Ruth was born on April 24, 1915, in Auglaize County, to Samuel and Catherine Roode Koch. She graduated from Blume High School in 1933, and was voted the Most Popular Girl in the school her senior year.  Ruth carried two attributes throughout her entire life: a positive attitude and a sense of humor.  These characteristics serve as a fine and loving example to all her family and friends.

Ruth also was a violinist in the Lima Philharmonic Orchestra and was a Past Matron of OES Koneta Chapter 385. She also was a faithful volunteer for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed working puzzles, and was an excellent bridge player.
