Ruth Howell, 88

Ruth G. Howell, 88, of St. Marys, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 2:47 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Otterbein St. Marys.
She was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Glynwood, the daughter of Onis (Craft) and Roy McDermitt, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 24, 1946, she married Vernon D. Howell, and he died in Dec. 1951.
Surviving are a daughter, Marsha E. (Kevin) Schnippel, of Troy; a grandson, Joshua Schnippel; two brothers, Robert (Linda) McDermitt, of St. Marys, and Norman (Hyla) McDermitt, of St. Marys; a sister, Dorothy Wilkens, of St. Marys; numerous loving nieces and nephews, including special nieces Karen Barringer and Kimberly Kaylor.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy McDermitt and Freedus McDermitt; three sisters, Margaret Wehnes, Evelyn Wheeler, and Betty Rumpff, and a sister-in-law, Mary Wilson.
Ruth worked for Auglaize Farmers as a bookkeeper for over 40 years. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, and was a 1942 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
Services are at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Steven Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
