ROUNDUP: Wapak netters blank Bath

The Wapakoneta Redskins rolled to a 5-0 sweep of the Bath Wildcats in a Western Buckeye League varsity boys tennis match Friday at the Rotary Club courts at Wapakoneta High School.

With the win, Wapak is now 4-4 overall and 3-1 in WBL play.  Bath is 0-5 and 0-4.

Wapak’s Nic Oen posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jason Lauf in first singles.

In second singles it was Joey Jose cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Nick Cunningham.

Andy Faller completed the singles sweep, besting Garrett Renner 6-2, 6-1 in third singles.

In first doubles, Rex Azbell and Anthony Kennard topped Matt Holt and Zach Grapner 6-0, 6-1.

And David Gerstner and Josh Moots won in second doubles, routing Tannar Orton and Kyle Spragg 6-0, 6-1.

The Redskins return to action Monday at Piqua.

 

SOFTBALL
Anna 12, Botkins 2

ANNA — The Anna Rockets rolled to a 12-2 six-inning win over the Botkins Trojans in a varsity softball game Thursday at Anna.

Anna scored in every inning, plating one in the first, three in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth to clinch the run-rule win.

Botkins scored once each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Erin Place went 2 for 3 and scored a run for the Trojans.

Botkins will be back in action Monday at home against Fort Loramie.
