Rotary spreads Christmas Cheer

November 29, 2013

Josh Little, right, president of the Wapakoneta Rotary Club, presents a $500 check to Kendall Krites, chief of the Wapakoneta Fire Department, for the annual Christmas Cheer Program.

The Wapakoneta Rotary Club made a $500 donation to the Wapakoneta Christmas Cheer program; Fire Chief Kendall Krites attended Monday’s meeting to accept the donation.
For the past couple of weeks, the club has “passed the hat” at meetings, explained club President Josh Little, and the club’s board of directors agreed to match whatever was collected during the effort. After the final collection, club members had thrown $248 into the hat.
“It seemed natural to bump that up to $250 and donate the $500,” Little said.
Krites expressed his appreciation for the contribution and said this year the Christmas Cheer program would assist 312 families – a number that is 12 less than were served last year. Krites said he sees that as an indication local people are doing a little better in the current economy.
