Robert Souder, 63

Robert Donald Souder, 63, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 7, 2012, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
He was born Feb. 4, 1949, in Bellefontaine, to the late Lillian Maxine (Shultz) and William Emerson Souder. On April 24, 2009, he married Ruth Ann Stevens, who survives.
Also surviving are his two sons, Rod D. Souder, of Waynesfield, and William Ian (Mary Anne) Souder, of Powell; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Souder, of Huntsville; a grandson, Liam Avery Souder, whom he shared his birthday; a step-son, Michael Stevens, of Bellefontaine; a step-daughter, Heather Tobias, of St. Marys; a brother, William H. (Anita) Souder, of Milwaukie, Oregon; a sister, Jeanne Ann Williams, of Jackson Center; several nieces and nephews; and numerous in-laws.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Viet Nam. He was a former employee of Baumfolder – Sidney where he worked for 12 years as an electrical engineer technician. Bob loved to volunteer his time, including as a martial arts instructor at the Lima YMCA and as a former paramedic with the Wayne Township EMS. He filled his time tinkering, rebuilding and working on various projects as well as spending time with his family. Bob also had a passion in exploring and documenting genealogy.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at the Myron Van Horn Chapel of Smith-Eichholtz Funeral Home in Lakeview, with the Rev. Robert Dye officiating. Military honors will follow the funeral service.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
