Robert Nagel, 83

Robert S. Nagel, 83, of New Bremen, died at 1:02 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.
He was born July 23, 1928, in Minster, the son of Odillia (Schwieterman) and Charles Nagel. On April 7, 1951, he married Donna L. Donnerberg who survives in New Bremen.
Also surviving are five children, James (Gayle) Nagel, of New Bremen, Michael (Jill) Nagel, of New Bremen, John (Ann) Nagel, of New Bremen, Joyce (Hans) Stienke, of St. Marys and Daniel (Jeff Logan) Nagel, of Sarasota, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (James) Brown, of Minster; and a daughter-in-law, Donna J. Nagel, of New Bremen.
Preceding him in death was a son, Robert S. Nagel; a granddaughter, Shannon Marie Nagel; seven brothers, Wilfred “Bud” Nagel, Herb Nagel, Ben Nagel, Stanley Nagel, Don Nagel, Charles Nagel Jr., and Eugene Nagel; and two sisters, Lucille Schlater and Joan Korte.
Mr. Nagel was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen and had served on the Parish Council. He was a lifetime member of both the Minster F.O.E. 1391 and the St. Marys F.O.E. 767. He was a member of the Home Benefit Association of New Bremen and of the former Lyons Club of New Bremen and was instrumental in the construction of the New Bremen Lyons Club Park. He served in the signal corp of the U.S. Army. He retired from the former Goodyear of St. Marys after 37 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen, with the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in Minster.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church at which time the Rosary will be prayed.
