Robert E. ‘Bob’ Seibert, 86

Robert E. “Bob” Seibert, 86, of rural Wapakoneta, died 4:07 p.m., Mon. April 16, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Van Wert County, the son of Doris (Mack) and John Seibert, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 20, 1945, he married Augusta M. Johns, and she died Feb. 5, 2001. On Aug. 11, 2001, he married Naomi M. Hickerson Souder, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son Kenneth E. Seibert, of Wapakoneta; two step-daughters, Loretta (Danny) Hawkins, off Hillsboro, Ky., and Charlotte (Gene) Benton, of Flemingsburg, Ky.; three step-grandchildren, Daryl (Ashley) Hawkins, Stephen Story and Jessica Story; three brothers, Lester Seibert and Clayton (Marilyn) Seibert, both of Spencerville, and Lloyd (Ruby) Seibert, of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dorothy Seibert.
Bob was a lifelong farmer, retiring from active farming in 2009. He had worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was stationed in Hawaii. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta.
A member of the Farm Bureau, he wasa former member of the St. Johns Fire Department, where he served as secretary. He was also a former member of the Buckeye Farm Antiques, Inc. His hobbies included riding his Gator around the farm, his antique tractors, playing checkers, and searching for arrowheads.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Mark Bauer officiating.
Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta VFW.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
