Richard D. ‘Dick’ Emrick, 84

Richard D. ‘Dick’ Emrick, 84, of Cridersville, died at 7:15 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014, at his residence. He was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Union Township, Auglaize County, to Earnest Clay and Norma Hemmert Emrick. He married Shirley Maxine Thrush on Oct. 7, 1951, and she survives in Cridersville.

Dick was a member of Cridersville United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Post 8445, Wapakoneta, and a former member of Brands Lake Fishing Club and Eagles Lodge, Aerie 691. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had been a maintenance repairman for the U.S. government.

Additional survivors include a son, Mark Emrick, of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren, Laura Ford, Ryan Emrick and Jesse Emrick; seven great-grandchildren and a brother, Jonathan Emrick, of Annapolis, Md.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Emrick, and a brother, James Emrick.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Monday, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville and 10-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the church.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at Cridersville United Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Martindell will officiate, and burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

Memorial contributions may be given to Ci-Ki-Lo Food Pantry or St. Rita’s Hospice.
