For their second straight match, a different golfer played the leading role for the Wapakoneta Redskins, as junior Haley Kinstle posted a season-low 46 on Tuesday.

Her effort, however, came in a 193-199 loss to the New Bremen Cardinals at Arrowhead Golf Club in Minster in varsity girls golf action.

Wapak senior Zoe Rayburn led Wapak on Monday, marking the first time this season the team was not led by senior Shelby Kohler.

“Haley did a great job tonight,” Wapak varsity assistant coach Dave Acheson said Tuesday. Wapak varsity coach Dawn West did not attend Tuesday’s match to be with her college golf team in Wauseon.

“Arrowhead is one of Haley’s favorite courses to play in the area and she played well.

“We just had too many double bogeys that were mainly caused by poor course management,” he said. “We didn’t have our best night of thinking out there and it cost us some key shots that would have made the difference in the match.”

Kohler shot a 49 behind Kinstle. Sierra Sammons (51) and Emily Klopfenstein (52) accounted for the remainder of Wapak’s scoring Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to help Haley out enough in our scoring tonight as a team to help get a win,” West said. “Even though our scores fall right in line with our team average and individual averages, most of our matches to this point have come from Wapak, and Arrowhead is a much different golf course than Wapak.

“It’s disappointing to go on the road, where generally the golf courses are a little easier than Wapak and not pick up another win, but we will learn from it and move onto the next match,” she said.”

New Bremen’s Rachel Parker was the match medalist Tuesday with a 44.

The loss put Wapak’s season record at 6-3 overall in match play.

The Redskins will face the Celina Bulldogs in a road match Monday at Fox’s Den Golf Course in Celina.
