R. Bruce Adair, 66
R. Bruce Adair, 66, of Wapakoneta, died at 11:33 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born June 21, 1945, in Lima, the son of Pauline (Kohn) and Gaylan E. Adair, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 2, 1970, he married Bonnie C. Heffner, and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gaylan J. (Pam DeVet) Adair, of Seattle; two daughters, Angie (Chris) Teutsch, of McKenney, Va., and Shanda Lochard, of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren, Alex Teutsch, Sam Teutsch, Collin Teutsch, Hannah Teutsch, Gabe DeVet-Adair, Audrey DeVet-Adair, and Ross Lochard; a brother, John â€śJackâ€ť (Kathy) Adair, of Estero, Fla.; a sister, Teri (Larry) Tipsord, of Lima, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Koch and Joyce Harruff.
Bruce worked as a vocational teacher, and retired from Lima Senior High School. A 1963 graduate of Elida High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and attended the University of Toledo. He enjoyed caring for and riding horses. In his younger years, he raced in the ARCA Racing Circuit, and at Allentown Motor Speedway.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Ron Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Ft. Amanda Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
