The problem with the Affordable Care Act and raising the debt limit, Republican U.S. Sen. Rob Portman says, can be reduced to simple math.
â€śThe underlying problem here is overspending â€” it is not a partisan comment and it is not a ideological comment, it is a question of math,â€ť Portman said Thursday during a media teleconference. â€śThe government cannot continue to spend more than it takes in. The economy, in my view, is not going to pick up until we deal with this $17 trillion debt that is acting like a wet blanket on the economy.â€ť
