Local law enforcement officers seek assistance in gaining leads into stolen items from a local retailer.
Wapakoneta Police Department Detective Pat Green is seeking information regarding the theft of cell phones from Radio Shack, 1252 Bellefontaine St. on Nov. 16.
Green said a store employee locked and closed the store at 9 p.m. Nov. 15 and returned to open the store at 10 a.m. Nov. 16 when the employee found the door unlocked and a large number of cell phones stolen.
The suspects forcibly entered the store through the front door. There are no known suspects at this time.
He described the cell phones as regular cell phones and not ones which a person can purchase minutes for use.
“In general, I would say cell phones are a pretty popular item to steal,” Green said. “With Smart Phones, they can be deactivated. Most often they are resold to pawn shops or on the Internet.”
Police officers and Green are still seeking information in finding a male suspect in an armed robbery in downtown Wapakoneta.
A 38-year-old Willshire man was delivering fuel at the Clark gasoline station, 302 Willipie St., at 1:06 a.m. Oct. 26 when a man approached the delivery man from behind, brandished a knife and asked for his wallet. The suspect then fled on foot from the scene to the south.
The victim could only describe the person as a male with short, dark hair and wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt. The suspect made off with $20 cash from the victim’s wallet.
There is a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprit in this case.
People with any information are encouraged to call the Wapakoneta Police Department at 419-738-2222.
