Police department welcomes officer

August 7, 2014

An officer recently welcomed to the Wapakoneta Police Department says he is learning the ropes and is looking forward to serving the community.

Patrolman Ryan Nolan, 28, of St. Marys, accepted the position after serving the Washington Township Police Department.

“A personal goal is just to serve the community as they expect me to serve them,” Nolan said, “learn everything that I can from every officer and individual that I work with, and just applying that to my everyday tasks.”

Coming from a smaller department, Nolan said he is gaining experience working in a different environment. Nolan said he is getting to know Wapakoneta and its community members.

He said his biggest challenge so far has been familiarizing with the department’s routine.

“Everything here’s completely new, so coming here and seeing what I can learn from everybody is beneficial to me,” Nolan said. “This will help me throughout my entire career, so I’m just looking forward to working with everybody.”
