A truck and trailer full of hay caught fire about 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, at a farm located at the 23000 block of Buckland Holden Road in Wayne Township. No injuries were reported.

“I was the second [fire] truck in, and the pick up truck and all the hay on the trailer was well involved when I got here,” Uniopolis Fire Department Assistant Chief Michael Wenning said.

The cause of fire is undetermined; however, officials say the skid loader was the likely origin. The property owner called officials after noticing the fire while unloading the hay bales.

The vehicle was totaled due to the fire.

Uniopolis, Wayne Township and Perry Township fire departments responded. Wenning said the fire was under control in approximately 20 minutes.
