Phyllis K. Roose, 88, of Russells Point, died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, in her home.
She was born July 8, 1924 in Wilshire, the daughter of Eva Marbaugh and Paul Schaffner, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 16, 1943, she married Roy N. Roose Jr., who died Jan. 12, 1997.
Surviving are five sons, Roy R. “Pete” Roose, of Lima, Gregory (Lynn) Roose, of Russells Point, George (Bobbi) Roose, of Russells Point, James Michael “Mike” (Val) Roose, of Rimer and John Hunt, of Alger; six daughters, Phyllis “Sis” (Mike dec.) Mowery, of Bellefontaine, Barbara (Donald) Stone, of Elida, Martha (Steve) Beltz, of Russells Point, Mary Joseph, of LaPorte Ind., Robin Joseph, of Wapakoneta, and Becky (William Carrino) Baldwin, of La Quinta, Calif.; 29 grandchildren; 50-plus great-grandchildren; 20-plus great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul Schaffner, of Aberdeen, Robin William “Bill” Schaffner, of Cooksville, Tenn., Jim Schaffner, of Wilshire, and Francis Schaffner, of Rockford; four sisters, Martha Jarrett, of Celina, Rachael Smalley, of University City, Texas, Eleanor Blubaugh, of Waynesfield, and Nancy Hilbold, of Celina; special friend forever and sister-in-law, Betty Roose; and a special friend, Sharon Goslee.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Roose and John Roose; a daughter, Carolyn Serna; three brothers, Roland Marbaugh, John Schaffner and George Schaffner; and two sisters, Monica Schaffner and Ruth Smalley.
Mrs. Roose was a homemaker. She loved to fish, cook, sew and enjoyed her family.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville, with her son Michael Roose officiating. Burial will follow in Ottawa River Cemetery near Rimer.
Friends may call from noon to 3 and 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
