Photography contest to accept artwork

February 5, 2014

A local art center will be accepting photography work from the community for its annual photography contest and exhibit to open Feb. 28.

Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta is welcoming the public to submit photographs to be judged for the “2014 Juried Photography Exhibit Prospectus.” Work will be accepted from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23.

“This is a time of year when there are not many shows going on, and it’s a good opportunity for photographers to get their work out to public,” Co-Gallery Director Anna Fisher said. “It gives them an opportunity to see how they stand with their peers.”

Fisher said this is the third year for the contest. The contest began as a way to lighten the other juried art show, which includes all forms of media.

“There were too many entries, so three years ago we decided to give the photographers a show of their own,” Fisher said. “After the first show everyone was so pleased that we had given photographers their own opportunity.”
