- Eyes On
Pauline “Polly” Swarner, 88, of Cridersville, formerly of St. Marys, died at 9:35 a.m. Monday, July 4, 2011, at Cridersville Healthcare Center, where she had made her home since November 2006. Prior to that, she had been a resident of The Gardens of Wapakoneta.
She was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Lima, the daughter of Maude (Ramer) and Guy Swarner, who preceded her in death. Her father died when she was only 6 years old. When her mother later remarried, it was her good fortune to have a wonderful step-father, Benjamin Kundert, whom she lovingly always called Dad.
Surviving are three brothers, Benjamin Kundert, Jr., of Lima, Roger and Carl Kundert, both of California; and a sister, Shirley Gordon, of Elida. She was the beloved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews and in better days could have named them all as well as their birthdays.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene Morton, Paul Swarner, Bill Swarner, Richard Kundert; and four sisters, Audrey Everson, Mary Chiles, Rowena Howell, and Evelyn Glick.
Ms. Swarner lived in Chicago for many years and later moved to Bellflower, Calif. She retired from Saint Gobain Corporation in 1988, and in 1993 returned to Ohio to be near her family.
Her life was full of friends, travel, love for her family and her God. Because of her interest in photography throughout the years, her family has been left with the treasure of family photos and memories. She always seemed to have a camera nearby. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and general goodness. No one could know her and not love her.
Services are at 11 a.m, Friday at the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum in Lima, with her brother Benjamin Kundert, Jr. officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita’s Hospice in Lima.
There is to be no visitation.
Arrangements are by the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
