Park access sought

May 6, 2014

City councilors discussed the annual Party in the Parkway, the Farmer’s Market and lauded the Clerk of Council on Monday evening, but safe access to Veteran’s Park drew the bulk of the attention.

Residents of South Wentz Street and South Rauthland Avenue petitioned council to reopen the pedestrian gates at the end of their streets to allow safe access to the park.

Residents said that at one point, when the skate park was located at the park, there were problems, but now that the skate park has been moved, they want access reopened.

Paul Rogers, spokesman for the group, said that having children go through the South Wagner Avenue entrance is dangerous due to the heavy traffic.
