OSU football could struggle down the stretch

November 13, 2012

I think people are forgetting what is still to come.

The schedule for OSU football up to this point has been cake.

Easy, weak, laughable.

You can pick your own word.

The best win was a road win at a struggling Penn State. A Penn State team that, like Ohio State is shining while the Big Ten is the worst it has been in a long time.

Can Ohio State boast an overtime home-win against Purdue?

Can they walk around, showing off their Illibuck trophy?

No, I see it now. The Buckeyes should brag about their performance over California.

Yeah, I saw the Nebraska game. I saw the offense take over, the crowd take over, and I saw Urban Meyer run up the score.

But have you seen Taylor Martinez throw?

The Big Ten is down, and something needs to be done.

Whether it’s a vision change, a bit of luck or a combination of both, the Big Ten will always be second-tier — if not third- fourth- or fifth-tier — of the conferences.

Yes, OSU is a good team. But a good team that has yet to be tested.

They will be tested these next two weeks.

There are some places that you never want to play in college football if you can avoid it, and a late afternoon game in Camp Randall is one of them.

Wisconsin is having a down year, but that will be a close game.

That game will give OSU a challenge.

Oh, and then there is Michigan. The best rivalry in all of sports.

If OSU is undefeated, you can bet Michigan will do anything and everything to spoil that for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State is not a Top 5 team this season. The AP voted OSU is the 6th best team in the country.

In my opinion, six is a little generous. But OSU has a chance in these next two weeks to prove their worth.

Go undefeated, and we’ll talk about top 5.
