Online dog tag sales continue

November 18, 2013

Bailey

An agreement for an online dog licensing system recently was renewed to continue to provide the service to Auglaize County residents.
Auglaize County Dog Warden Russ Bailey said the agreement with Fairfield Computer Systems doesn’t just allow for residents to pay for their dog tags online, but it assists him with determining if dogs at particular addresses have tags and helps locate owners and return dogs to them when they are found.
“Online tag sales are just a portion of it,” Bailey said.
The system costs $100 per month, which is taken from the dog warden’s budget, and customers are charged a $2 convenience fee for paying for their tags online.
Even with the fee, it offers dog owners another way to pay for the tags and adds the convenience of doing it 24-hours a day by using a credit card. As it is now, there is no other way to make the payment using a credit card. Cash or check payments may be mailed or taken to the Auglaize County Auditor’s Office.
