OHSAA board aligns track and field divisions

September 6, 2013

Ohio High School Athletic Association

From staff reports

Track and field divisional alignments for the next two seasons were announced Thursday by the Ohio High School Athletic Association following a regularly scheduled monthly meeting for September.

Wapakoneta will be a Division I school, while Waynesfield-Goshen and Botkins will each compete in Division III.

Until Thursday, track and field was the only OHSAA-sanctioned varsity sport that the association had yet to assign tournament divisions for.

Now, all postseason tournament divisions are set for the next two school years including the current 2013-14 one.

Another result of Thursday’s meeting was the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association making two proposals to the OHSAA board of directors.

The first proposal requested an increase in the number of dates an individual player is allowed to play from 27 to 32. The second proposed expanding tournament rosters from 18 to 22 players.

The OHSAA said its board is expected to vote on both proposals at its December meeting.
