ST. MARYS — The New Year’s baby for Auglaize County is Atticus Logan Kinsey, born to Chelsie, 23, and Brandon, 30, Kinsey, of St. Marys at 7:33 a.m. Jan. 1. The newborn weighed in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and measured 20 inches long. Atticus Logan was born at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

Chelsie Kinsey said she was playing “Duck-Duck-Goose” with her two children, Cashis, 3, and Mikayla, 7, about five minutes after watching the ball drop in New York City when she went into labor.

Chelsie Kinsey, who works at a Honda facility assembling transmissions, is a lifelong resident of St. Marys. Her husband works at Dynamic Weld in Osgood. The baby has a lot of local connections, being the grandson of Kelly Dawdui and Robin and Wayne Lutz, and the great-grandson of Marlene and Dave Dawdui.

Chelsie Kinsey said she and her husband plan to teach the baby respect, loyalty and family values.

“Family is everything,” Chelsie Kinsey said.

Personality-wise, she said the baby is calm, and was calm even in the womb.

“He’s pretty chill,” Chelsie Kinsey said. “He gets that from his dad.”
