Nelson Greve, 83

Nelson B. “Nellie” Greve, 83, of Wapakoneta, died at 6:34 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at the Lima Memorial Health System following a sudden illness.
He was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Shelby County, the son of Hulda (Steinke) and Edward Greve, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 7, 1953, he married Anna E. Eversman, and she survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly (Tom) Lee, of Wapakoneta; two sons, Douglas Greve, of Botkins, and David (Brenda) Greve, of Wapakoneta; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Luetta Ruppert, Victoria Rohrbaugh, Iva Lou Bergman.
He was preceded in death by a son, Duane Greve; two great-grandchildren, Addison Berner and Talon Lee; and 3 brothers-in-law, Marion Ruppert, Virgil Rohrbaugh, and Richard Bergman.
Nellie retired from Moulton Gas Company in Moulton. Prior to that, he worked at Stinebaugh Construction Company in Wapakoneta. He was also an avid junk collector. Nellie proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta. His other memberships included Buckeye Farm Antiques and the Grand Lake Tractor Pullers. He also served as a board member with the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. He enjoyed wintering in Florida, fishing, traveling, but most especially spending time with his family and pestering his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post 8445.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
