Ned A. Mowery, 85, of Cridersville, died at 9:50 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014, at his residence. He was born on Feb. 26, 1929, to Ruhie Edward and Margaret â€˜Dutchâ€™ Viola Baumgardner Mowery. Both parents preceded him in death. On May 12, 1950, he married Jeanne Ann Harshe, who survives in Cridersville.
Mr. Mowery was a realtor and a barber and was the owner of the former Mowery Real Estate, and Moweryâ€™s Barber Shop. He was a member of the West Central Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. He served in the United States Army in Korea. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 8445, American Legion Post 330, and the Korean War Veterans Association. Ned was also a farmer and auctioneer. He belonged to the Cridersville Historical Association, and was the fifth generation living on the family homesite. He was also an avid New York Yankee fan.
He is survived by a son, Thomas Edward Mowery, of Lima; a daughter, Kelli A. Raines, of Elida; and a granddaughter, Courtney Raines, of Elida.
He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Allen Mowery, a grandson, Christopher Raines and a sister, Anna Jean Thomas.
Visiting hours will be held from 1-6 p.m., Sunday, March 30, at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Funeral Services will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, March 31, at the funeral home. Pastor Joe Wassink will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery, Cridersville. Military Rites by V.F.W. Post 8445.
