Ned Keiber, 82

Ned E. Keiber, 82, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Wapakoneta, the son of Hazel (Wellington) and Earl W. Keiber, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 9, 1957, he married Margaret June Peak, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Leslie K. Steining, of Wapakoneta, Linda S. (Kevin) Schnell, of Wapakoneta; five grandchildren, Angela D. (Ryan) Sample, Cristine A. Michael Shaw) Steining, Andrew J. Steining, David M. Schnell, and Erin A. Schnell; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert E. and Billie Keiber, of Wapakoneta.
A 1958 graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, Ned retired as an instructor at Lima Technical College. Prior to that, he served as plant manager at Artwood Handle Co. and Wapakoneta Machine Co., both of Wapakoneta. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. A 67-year member of the First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta, he was a life member of the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post 8445. He was a charter member of the Wapakoneta YMCA, and was past president of the Neil Armstrong Airport Authority and the Wapakoneta Country Club.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. R.J. Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, and 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
