The Music Man: past meets present

March 26, 2014

A handful of people, ranging in age, gathered at the back of the performing arts center at Wapakoneta High School on Tuesday evening.

In a rush the current cast and crew of the 2014 WHS musical, the Music Man, came to greet their visitors and find out what they all have in common.

An emotional, educational and exciting alumni reunion followed as the visitors happened to be former cast and crew members of past productions of the Music Man.

Members of the 1969, 1983, 1999 and 2014 cast and crews met to share with each other, and hopefully lend a little insight on the impact being a part of the school musical will have on the cast of 2014’s future.

Nikki Barger stage director of the WHS musical said one of the most important things the cast members feel is a sense of community.

“If we can integrate a part of the community out there with the community in here it kind of adds a special moment,” Barger said. “Then if those past cast members come in to see the show, then the audience members will have a sense of connection with the performance as well.”
