Gabe Coffey, a senior and four-year member of Singsation, performs with the group recently. Singsation is to be featured during Music and More at Wapakoneta High School on Saturday.
In its 11th year, Music and More features 11 show choirs from three states during the competition to be held Saturday at Wapakoneta High School.
Groups begin performing at 9 a.m. with finals set to begin at 7 p.m. Wapakoneta High School’s own Singsation is scheduled to take the stage at 9:30 p.m.
The renowned group, which just finished its award-winning competition season, plans to perform it’s heartbreak themed show with 25 minutes of non-stop performing to a song montage including Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” The group includes 35 singers, 10 crew members, and 10 instrumentalists with the Red Peppers Band.
The event serves as the major fundraiser for the Wapakoneta Choral Music Society (WCMS) and assists in paying for the needs of the high school’s choirs and show choir, including sets, costumes, and equipment updates.
“Our big goal now is to get new choir robes, which could cost up to $10,000,” said Jennifer Klaus, WCMS president and chair for Music and More.
WCMS assists with the needs of four choirs — symphonic, men’s, women’s and treble — in addition to Singsation.
Lunch, dinner and snacks are to be available throughout the day at Wapakoneta High School during Music and More, for which tickets are available at the door. Tickets for both preliminary and finals are $15, while they are $10 each for just the preliminary or finals portions of the event.
“It’s a day full of amazingly, talented groups,” Klaus said. “These groups have worked very hard this year and for most its the last competition of the season.”
