Morris L. “Mose” Koch, 82

Morris L. “Mose” Koch, 82, of Cridersville, died at 8:05 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 11, 1931, in rural Cridersville, to the late Grover C. and Bonnie Koch. On Sept. 11, 1954, he married Mary Hengstler, who survives.

Mr. Koch was owner/operator of Koch Construction, formerly Recker & Koch Construction, building many homes in the Cridersville area and selling real estate. He was known for his attention to detail, doing it right the first time and was a master wood craftsman.

He was a life member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church. After graduating from Cridersville High School in 1949, he joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving in Kobe, Japan. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8445, of Wapakoneta, and the #370 Aerie Eagles, of Lima.

He loved to spend time with his daughter, son-in-law and two special grandsons. Traveling, fishing and going to casinos gave him great enjoyment. Best of all he adored his ‘keeper’ wife who was always by his side.

Survivors also include his daughter, Deborah (Jeff) Garlock, of Belle Center; a son, Greg Koch; two grandsons, Andrew Garlock, of Canton, and Christian Garlock, of Belle Center.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard L. Koch and Paul F. Koch.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor James C. Couser will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery, where military rites will be observed by V.F.W. Post #8445 of Wapakoneta.

The family will receive friends from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, St. Matthew Cemetery, or St. Rita’s Hospice.
