Gild the Lily co-owner Glenna McCormick has been a fixture in downtown Wapakoneta for nearly 60 years.

On Friday she was honored by the Wapakoneta Antique and Specialty Shops, or WASS, for her many years as a local business owner and for being a “pioneer” to downtown shop owners who followed in her footsteps.

“We wanted to acknowledge all the years she’s been in business and all she’s done as a woman owning a retail store,” Casa Chic co-owner Landa Tomlinson said. “Glenna has helped many of us downtown get our start and she’s been such a pioneer in this type of business.

“We really, truly wanted to recognize her for being a forerunner and let her know how much she is appreciated for all she’s done.”

On behalf of WASS, Tomlinson presented McCormick with a plaque and flowers as a way to commemorate her dedication to downtown Wapakoneta businesses.
