Mary Rose Krites, 86

Mary Rose Krites, 86, of Wapakoneta, died 10:15 a.m., Tuesday July 12, 2011, at Wapakoneta Manor, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Maria Stein, the daughter of Priscilla (Bertke) and Joseph Huelskamp, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 31, 1946, she married Kenneth K. Krites, and he died March 9, 1971.
She is survived by a son and seven daughters, Nicholas (Kathy) Krites, of Cridersville, Nancy (Ken) Kramer, Jean (Rollin) Lutterbein, and Barbara (David) Copeland, of Wapakoneta, Jane Krites, Lima, Patricia (Dan) Hinegardner, of Cridersville, Christine Krites, of Whitehall, and Polly (Scott) Thomas, Tipp City; a son-in-law, Jim (Kristine) Ewald, of Wapakoneta; a close family friend, Bambi Markham; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Rosengarten, Rita Schulze, Norma Butcher, and Joan (David) Baum; brothers, Paul (Jill) Huelskamp, and Tom (Suzie) Huelskamp; brothers-in-law, Robert (Virginia) Krites, and Harold (Margaret) Krites; sisters-in-law, Hannah Krites, and Betty Fenneman; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Ewald; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cecila and Virgil Krites; two brothers, Gene and Patrick Huelskamp; two sisters, Judy Young and Teresa Huelskamp; two sisters-in-law, Mary Howell and Carol Huelskamp; and brothers-in-law, Lee Schulze, Gene Huelskamp, Ray Rosengarten, Edward Young, Glen Krites, Bill Howell and Gene Fenneman.
Rose dedicated more than 41 years of service as an employee of St. Joseph Parish, Wapakoneta, prior to her retirement in 1989. She took great pleasure in volunteering and helping others for more than 50 years as a Girl Scout, church and community volunteer. In recognition of her efforts she was awarded the highest Girl Scout lay and religious awards, The Thanks Badge and the St. Anne’s Award.
Her family was always her greatest pride and there was nothing that made her happier than having everyone together for a celebration. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in feeding others with the fruits of her labors or gracing home and church with her flowers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Fri. July 15, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m., Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
