Mary Jo Pfenning, 79, 241 N. Spruce St., St. Marys, died at 8:49 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Hospital in St. Marys following a sudden illness.
She was born April 22, 1932, in St. Marys, the daughter of Erma (Sprague) and William Suchland. On Oct. 2, 1952, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, she married J. Philip Pfenning, who died Dec. 11, 2007.
Surviving are three sons, John Pfenning, of New Knoxville, Thomas Pfenning, of New Bremen, and Michael Pfenning of St. Marys; and a daughter Julie Metz, of St. Marys.
She was preceded in death by a son, Philip Pfenning.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys, with the Rev. Greg Bornhorst , officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
