Mary L. Niemeyer, 85, of 08816 Washington Pike, Wapakoneta, died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at her residence following a short illness.
She was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Lima, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Fike) Rohr.Â She married Robert Niemeyer on Nov. 7, 1949, and he survives at the residence.
She is also survived by her four children: Debra (David) McFeely of Fort Loramie, Dale (Barb) Niemeyer of New Knoxville, Dana Niemeyer of Wapakoneta and Darren (Tracy) Niemeyer of Wapakoneta.
She is survived by nine grandchildren: Ben (Niki) Niemeyer, Kristen (Joe) Harting, Shawn McFeely, Phillip (Jamie) Niemeyer, Adam (Erika) Niemeyer, Ashley Niemeyer, Chad Niemeyer, Cole Niemeyer and Alison Niemeyer; eight great-grandchildren: Ashley, Katelyn, Madison, Aiden, Haley, Taylor, Brandon and AJ.Â
She is survived by one brother, John Rohr, of Lima.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by one sister, Rose Williams.Â
Mary was a 1947 graduate of Lima South High School. She was a farm wife and a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. Mary was an avid flower gardener and her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, with the Reverend Dr. David Williams as officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Ministry Center of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where memorial gifts may be given to either Â the Radio Broadcast Fund of the church or to Wilson Memorial Hospice.
