Marlene C. Lambert, 76, of Wapakoneta, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2012, at her home following a sudden illness.
She was born May 3, 1936, in Botkins, the daughter of Freida (Linard) and William Gehrlich, who preceded her in death. On June 8, 1957, she married Ordell Lambert, who preceded her in death Aug. 1, 2007. They celebrated a golden anniversary of 50 years of marriage together.
Surviving are two sons, Terry (Leisa) Lambert, of Lima, and Thomas Lambert, of Toledo; a daughter, Rebecca (Todd) Noe, of Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Caitlyn) Lambert, Jason Lambert, Jack Lambert, Devon Noe, Chad Noe, and Brianne Blake; three great-grandchildren, Jamison Lambert, Mason Lambert, and Julien Lambert; two sisters, Frances Nester, of Wapakoneta and Ruthie Scheblo, of Fairborn; and a brother, Jack Gehrlich, of Botkins.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tad Lambert, on Dec. 6, 1964, and a sister, Betty Lou Brockert, in 2004.
Marlene was retired from Fisher Cheese and the Big Bear Grocery Store in Wapakoneta. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, and she was very active with the St. Joseph Festival sewing ladies making quilts. She also volunteered her time on various other church activities. She was a member of Brands Lake Fishing Club along with her husband.
Ordell and Marlene enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling, and spending time with family. A devoted mother and a friend to many, she will be truly missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
