Marie M. Arnett, 90, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born May 6, 1921, in Fryburg, the daughter of Mary (Reier) and John Roth, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 26, 1944, she married Frederick â€śFritzâ€ť Arnett, who died Jan. 17, 1992.
Surviving are three children, Don (Darlene) Arnett, of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Diane (Larry) Winner, of Wapakoneta, and Tom (who is deceased) Angie Arnett; nine grandchildren, Tracy (Andy) Haag, Lisa (Jon) Davis, Julie (Keith) Recknagel, Lance (Jaime) Arnett, Kelly (Scott) Miller, Brian (Lisa) Arnett, Scott (Allie) Arnett, Adam (Nicolette) Winner, and Kara Winner; 16 great-grandchildren, Kaley Haag, Ashley Haag, Drew Haag, Brennon Davis, Evan Davis, Nathan Recknagel, Cameron Recknagel, Kaleb Recknagel, Brady Arnett, Sydney Miller, Cal Miller, Will Arnett, Leah Arnett, Gavin Arnett, Grady Winner, and Graham Winner; and a sister, Helen Reiff, ofLima.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie Winner; six brothers, Edwin Roth, Bernard Roth, Karl Roth, Urban Roth, William Roth, and Ferd Roth; and two sisters, Rita Steinke and Lenora Hunt.
A homemaker, Marie worked at Westinghouse, Gerenâ€™s IGA, Marshâ€™s Food Store, and Gerbers. She was very strong in her faith and very involved in her parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta.
She loved everyone and was a Eucharistic Minister, visited the sick, was a member of the former Christian Mothers Sodality, the sewing ladies, and was a regular in the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. She received the St. Joseph Worker Award in 2002, and was a bingo and festival worker. She was always faithful in attending Mass, and helping out with many parish activities. She was a member of the K of C Council 1272 Auxiliary and a honorary member of 4th Degree K of C, Auxiliary. She worked on the Auglaize County Election Board, and was a member of the Wapakoneta Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and spending time with her many precious friends. Her faith, family and friends were her greatest treasures.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta.
