M. Philena Braun, 81, of rural Wapakoneta, died at noon, Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 18, 1931, in Auglaize County, the daughter of Lylah (Hover) and Carl Minnich, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 28, 1951, she married Irvin V. â€śRedâ€ť Braun, and he died March 6, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph A. (Joan) Braun, of Wapakoneta, and Ken (Jane) Braun, of Fort Amanda; a daughter, Pam (Al) Morris, of Waynesfield; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry (Helen) Minnich, of Uniopolis, and David â€śButchâ€ť Minnich, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sisters, Ruth (Quinton) McLean, of Walled Lake, Mich., and Thelma Musser, of Wapakoneta; and numerous nieces andnephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Braun; a daughter, Lisa Lowry; a grandson, Matt Lowry; five brothers, Joe Minnich, Robert Minnich, William Minnich, James Minnich, and Donald Minnich; and four sisters, Evelyn Minnich, Mary Catherine Eschmeyer, Edith Oakman, and Barbara Myers.
Philena was a homemaker and worked with her family on the family farm. She was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Fryburg, and its Ladies Sodality. Her hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and sewing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John Catholic Church in Fryburg, with the Rev. Oscar Seger officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. John Cemetery in Fryburg.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
