Lucile Waldman, 95

Lucile H. Waldman, 95, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Heritage of Huntington, Ind.
She was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Margaret M. (Sheipline) and Joseph R. Brown, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 1, 1936, she married John F. Waldman, and he died June 25, 1979. They lived their entire lives on Defiance Street in Wapakoneta.
Surviving are a son, Douglas (Mary Ellen) Waldman, of Roanoke, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Cindy (Bill) Fountain, of Lexington, Ky.; five grandchildren, Scott Waldman, Joy (Doug) Smeltzer, Denise (Doug) Craighead, Kristine Waldman, and Garth (Erica) Waldman; seven great-grandchildren, Trevor, Tristan, Keaton, Gavin, Cory, Jace and Payton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; a great-granddaughter, Ayla; and 10 brothers and sisters, Marie, Cora, Matilda, Leo, Charles, Mamie, Earl, Ernest, Esther and Arthur.
A homemaker, Lucile was very active in the community and her church. She and John ran the First United Methodist Church Auglaize County Fair food stand for many years, helping to raise money to build the present First United Methodist Church. Lucile also spent many hours planning and cooking meals for various church events. She was an active member of the Auglaize County Republican Party and worked at the polls many years. In addition, she was a member of the Wapakoneta Women’s Club and her church circle. Lucile traveled to many countries and also to many states with family and friends. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. R. J. Davis officiating. Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Friends called from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today at the church.
