LTCP phase 2 to start

November 19, 2013

The second phase of a sewer replacement project in downtown Wapakoneta should be able to start soon with the contractor purchasing materials and conducting pre-construction work, a city administrator says, as the city secures a second round of funding.
Wapakoneta City Council members Monday passed an ordinance to permit the mayor and the safety-service director to sign an agreement with the Ohio Water Development Authority (OWDA) to finance the cost of the second phase of construction through a low interest loan totaling $4.1 million. The second phase is expected to cost approximately $4.6 million.
“With the completion of this phase of the project, it will mean the city will be in 100 percent compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), we have met our goals for wastewater treatment and a very large piece of infrastructure has
now been replaced,” Metz told the Wapakoneta Daily News after the meeting.
For more information on the second phase of construction, see the Tuesday, Nov. 19 edition of the Wapakoneta Daily News.
