Local KOA wins top honor

November 25, 2013

The Wapakoneta-Lima South KOA Campgrounds has been awarded a top honor from the company.
The local KOA campground was awarded the 2014 KOA President’s and Founder’s Award by Kampgrounds of America Inc., the world’s largest system of family-friendly campgrounds, on Thursday during KOA’s Annual International Convention in Austin, Texas.
The KOA President’s and Founder’s Award is presented annually to campgrounds receiving the highest scores in customer service from their campers and top scores in KOA’s annual quality review, said Mike Gast, vice president of communications for KOA.
The award is named in honor of Dave

Drum, who founded KOA on the banks of the Yellowstone River, in Billings, Mont., in 1962. It is given to those KOA campgrounds that attained the very top scores in both customer service and on the KOA quality review.
KOA surveys hundreds of thousands of campers each year regarding their KOA camping experience, Gast said.
“Everything we do at KOA is centered on providing the best possible camping experience to our millions of guests each year,” KOA President Pat Hittmeier said. “We have wonderful owners, managers and staff working on their parks every day to provide that great experience, and listening closely to the desires of their campers. I’m so proud to be able to recognize that effort with our KOA President’s and Founder’s Award,” he said.
KOA celebrates its 51st anniversary in 2013.
