Yesterday the Wapakoneta Area Ministerial Association met to recognize Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Wapakoneta Area Ministerial Association gives an opportunity for people of Wapakoneta to go on a spiritual journey together throughout Lent. They will continue to meet every Wednesday during Lent, with a different presider taking the altar each week.

Rev. Pat Sloneker of St. Joseph’s kicked off the yearly staple yesterday with an offering of ashes followed by a luncheon in the Parish Life Center.

During his homily Sloneker explained Lent as a time of reflection, and to think about ashes.
