WAYNESFIELD — The Waynesfield-Goshen Board of Education has sought legal counsel regarding the issue of whether or not to allow a trained employee to carry a firearm on school grounds.
Mark Jackson, an attorney with the law firm Pepple & Waggoner, attended the regular W-G board meeting Monday to discuss the types of policy and procedure that would need to be implemented if the board decides to arm an employee.
While at the board meeting, Jackson answered questions about the legal parameters of arming staff, discussing what’s confidential and what’s not.
W-G Superintendent Chris Pfister said Jackson, who spoke to the board during executive session, reminded board members that confidentiality is imperative if they choose to create this type of security policy.
“All the things he would recommend are probably going to be confidential documents that will not be public records,” Pfister said.
