Lee Kuck, 67, of New Bremen, died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept, 22, 2012, at the St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born Jan. 7, 1945, in New Bremen, the son Esther (Quellhorst) and Ewald Kuck, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Chris (Teresa) Kuck, of New Bremen; a daughter, Angela Kuck, of Arlington, Va.; a granddaughter, Sammy Kuck, of New Bremen; two brothers, David (Beverly) Kuck, of New Bremen, and William (Tena) Kuck, of New Bremen; three sisters, Frances (Richard) Reese, of Pandora, Barbara Dill, of Alexandria, Va., and Lois (Bruce) Saintignon, of Montezuma; a former wife, Deb Kuck, of St. Marys; and a dear friend, Pat Fleck, of Chickasaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his a sister, Helen Haeseker.
Mr. Kuck was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 241, where he had been a trustee, a member of the New Bremen Rod and Gun Club and of the Home Benefit Association of New Bremen. He not only served our country with the U.S. Army Reserve, but also served our community on the New Bremen/German Township Fire Department of which he was a retired member, and as a former Auglaize County fire investigator. He was a 1963 graduate of New Bremen High School. He enjoyed getting together with others from the area to sing in an a cappella quartet, and talk Platt Deutsch and politics. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and snowmobiling. He owned and operated the former Kuckâ€™s Silo business and then became part owner/operator of ConAg/Quality Ready Mix of St. Marys. After his retirement he worked for the Auglaize Co. Highway Dept.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, with the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
