LCC gives Wapakoneta 1st loss of season

The Wapakoneta Redskins received their first loss of the season Saturday.

In a visit to Lima Stadium, the Redskins were defeated 2-0 by the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds in a non-league varsity boys soccer contest.

The loss moved Wapak’s season record to 5-1-1.

Two goals by LCC in the first half stood up the remainder of the game Saturday.

The T-birds’ Sean Daley opened the scoring at 5:09 with a goal. Nearing halftime, Daley posted another goal at 38:54 to conclude the scoring.

Wapak did outshoot LCC on Saturday, totaling 18 shots including 11 on goal. LCC managed 13 shots and seven on goal.

Redskins goalkeeper Kaleb Miller had five saves.

Wapak will return to action Tuesday with a Western Buckeye League game against the Bath Wildcats.

The Redskins will look at stay in contention for the WBL title against Bath in their third league game of the season.

Wapak and Elida, who tied each other on Thursday are each 1-0-1 in the WBL, while St. Marys and Celina stand at 2-0 in the young season.
