K. Lenore Shappell, 99, of Cridersville, died at 9:57 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at St. Ritaâs Medical Center in Lima.
She was born Sept. 22, 1912, near Lafayette to Vera Gladys Hefner and Charles Varian Guthrie, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 17, 1940, she married Adrian Eugene Shappell and he preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1971.
Surviving are two sons: Terry (Helen) Shappell, of Goshen, Ind., and Dean (Diana) Shappell, of Elida; a daughter, Anita Kay Shappell, of Cridersville; her caregiver and companion, Chris Lewis; a sister, Maxine Boyd, of Lafayette; four sister-in-laws: Norma Guthrie Downey, of Lima, Marjorie Place, of Wapakoneta, Sally Shappell, of Buckland, and Betty Shappell, of Buckland; eight grandchildren: Mindy (Dave) Morelli, Mike (Amy) Shappell, Shelly (Matt) Elling, Bonnie Dailey, Ron (Dane) Seech, David (Serima) Curtis, Melissa (Dennis) Wojciechowski, and Daniel Young; 13 great-grandchildren, Christopher Shappell, Samantha Shappell, Casey Dailey, Alesia Dailey, Samatha Penzerro, Donnie Seech, Brandon Seech, Cade Elling, Leah Elling, Eric Wojciechowski, Christa Wojciechowski, Donal Curtis, aand Maliya Curtis; and two great-great-grandchildren Piper Daily and Parker Dailey.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Gerald Guthrie, Dwight Guthrie, Warren Guthrie and Robert Guthrie two sisters, Marjorie Guthrie and Gertrude Long; and a grandson Michael Dean Shappell.
She had been a farmerâs wife and worked 17 years at Fisher Cheese. She was a member of County Line Church of the Brethren and attended Hume Untied Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and her four legged friend Haley.
Services are at 10:30 a. m., Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville, with the Rev. David Thompson officiating Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
