Joseph âJoeâ F. Brockert, 83 of Lima, passed away at 10:12 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at St. Ritaâs Medical Center in Lima.
He was born April 5, 1928,, in Lima, the son of Anna (Drexler) and Gilbert Brockert. On Aug. 12, 1948, he married Bonnie Oen and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Joe (Susan) Brockert, of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Pamela (Tom) Groskopf, of Cincinnati; two step-sons, Aron Madrid and Colin (Shelly) Madrid; eight grandchildren, Mike (Lindsey) Groskopf, Bethany (Joel II) Penton, Tom (Libby) Groskopf, Bob Groskopf, Zackary Madrid, Zoe Madrid, Jacob Madrid, MaKayla Madrid; five great-grandchildren, Joel Penton III, Judah Penton, Justin Groskopf, Sidney Groskopf and Indy Groskopf; four sisters Karen (Dick) Smith, of Van Wert, Anita (Jack) Kintz, of New Haven, Ind., Ann (Dick) Wiechart, of Lima, and Jane (Gerald) Siebert, of Lima; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
He had owned and operated Acme Photo Supply in Lima.Â He was an industrial photographer for Neon Products Incorporated in Lima and was a press photographer for the Lima Citizen. He had served as president of the Industrial Photographers of Ohio. He was a charter and faithful member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima.Â He was a life member of the B.P.O.E 54 in Lima and Knights of Columbus.Â He enjoyed boating, gardening, sports, radio and his newspapers.Â He graduated from Wapakoneta St. Joe High School.
A Memorial Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima, the Rev. Stephen Blum officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services where a wake service will take place at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church of to the charity of the donorâs choice.
