John Raesky, 85

John Raesky, 85, of Lima, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at his residence.
He was born, March 24, 1926, in Wapakoneta, the son of the late Florentina (Sciranka) and Jacob Raesky. On Jan. 31, 1953,
He married Martha Howell in St. John’s Catholic Church in Lima.
Surviving are son, Mark (Robin) Raesky, of Lima; a daughter, Kristen Reynolds, of Lima; three grandchildren, Heather (Perry) Beko, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Nicholas Reynolds, of Lima, and Jacob Raesky, of Lima; and a brother, Anthony Raesky of Lima.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Raesky and Donald Raesky; and two sisters, Veronica LaRue and Claire Hoot.
He served in the United States Army from June 4, 1944 to May 30, 1946; and received the EAME Theater Ribbon with Two Bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, World War II Meritorious Unit Award and Occupation Medal (Germany). He retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years. He was a member of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, American Legion Post 96 of Lima and Eagles Aerie 370 of Lima.
Private family services will be held at aa later date at the convenience of the family, the Rev. James Szobonya officating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wapakoneta with military services conducted by VFW Post 1275.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Gerard’s Catholic Church Flower Fund or St. Rita’s Hospice.
