Jim A. Herbst, 46, of Portland, Tenn., formerly of Wapakoneta, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 23, 1967, in Lima, the son of Joan (Wilson) and Jimmy Herbst. Joan and Jim Maitlen survive in Ohio and Jimmy and Nancy Herbst survive in Tennessee.
Also surviving are four children, Savannah (Matt) Nichols, of Ohio, Tabitha Herbst, of Ohio, Zachary Herbst, of Ohio, and David (Amanda) McGinnis, of Ohio; three step-brothers, Jack (Yvonne) Johnson, of Ohio, David (April) Maitlen, of Ohio, and Dan (Prima) Maitlen, of Ohio; a step sister, Deanna (Don) Collins, of Ohio; two granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Duke.
Jim had been a factory worker and was known as ‘Wolf’ in his motorcycle extended family.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Martindell officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Auglaize County Humane Society.
