Jerry Rains, 70

Jerry W. Rains, 70, of Wapakoneta, died at 9:08 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
He was born July 1, 1942, in Middlesboro, Ky., the son of Frank Jarvis and Ollie Marie Margraves Rains, who preceded him in death. On June 10, 1967, he married Christine A. Merricle, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Surviving are three daughters, Tina (Bob) Diller, of Coldwater, Shelly (Bryan) Kinstle, of Wapakoneta, and Jennifer Rains, of Wapakoneta; a son, James Rains, of Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Caleb Rains, Amber Diller, Kristen Diller, Faith Diller, Josh Diller, and Dylan Prine; two brothers; Jim (Betty) Rains, of Lima, and Carl Rains, of Lima; and three sisters, Fay (Phil) Troyer, of Defiance, Diane Dickson, of Lima, and Carolyn Stolzenburg, of Buckland.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Rains and Frank Rains; and a sister, Jeanette Jones.
Mr. Rains had been the owner of Rains Refuse. He was a member of Brands Lake, Wapakoneta AmVets and Wapakoneta Eagles. He was a loving family man and enjoyed fishing.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville,, with the Rev. Denny Hunter officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Shriners.
