Jeb T. Johnson, 24, of rural Spencerville, died suddenly at 12:01 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Emergency Department in Lima.
He was born Dec. 23, 1988, in Columbus, the son of Linda S. (Jones) and James M. Johnson, who survive in Spencerville.
Also surviving are a sister, Lacy (Dustin) Gallaspie, of Spencerville; his maternal grandparents, Helen and James Jones, of Buckland; several aunts and uncles; his best friend, Mike Wolford; and all of the family pets, whom he just loved.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, June and John Johnson.
Jeb was a graduate of Spencerville High School, where he was very active in FFA. He was very talented and from the age of three began working with his father as a mechanic and farmer. He was also a worker for the Goecke Farms, which he loved.
He attended Bethlehem Christian Union Church near Buckland. He loved truck pulling in his orange 1968 Chevy Truck with a 12-valve Cummins engine. He recently won the Hillbilly Truck Pull in Spencerville. He also loved drag racing his 1969 red Camaro. He enjoyed welding, woodworking, the FFA and eating at his favorite Mexican restaurants.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Church, with the Rev. Kent Place officiating. Burial will follow at German-Zion Cemetery south of Spencerville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Nationwide Childrenâ€™s Hospital Heart Center for Pediatrics or the FFA chapter at Spencerville schools.
