Jean L. Schroer, 86

Jean L. Schroer, 86, of Wapakoneta, died at 10:35 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2014, at Wapakoneta Manor. She was born March 9, 1928, in Lima, the daughter of Amos and Kathryn (Mohler) Winget, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Willis Lee Schroer, and he died Aug. 3, 2001.

Survivors include, two children, Allen (Lou) Schroer, of Kentucky, and Karen (Ray) Fisher, of Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Kevin (Lisa) Schroer, Mike Schroer and Heather, Audra Baker, Joshua (Jody) Stevely, Nathan (Wendy) Stevely and Tylor Fisher; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dylan (Katrina), Rose and Alexa; a great-great-grandchild, Kris; siblings, Don (Nora) Winget, of Wapakoneta, Larry (Alicia) Winget, of Michigan, Shirley (Robert) Dillon, of Minnesota, Kathleen (George) Spearman, of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Fern Winget, of Kalida.

She was preceded in death by John Winget, David Winget, and an infant sister, Virginia.

A homemaker, Jean was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta. She also was a member of the women’s circle at church. She volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Wapakoneta Woman’s Club. Her hobbies included arts and crafts and making flower arrangements. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 12, at the First United Methodist Church, in Wapakoneta, with Pastor Kimberly Pope-Seiberling officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Matthew Cemetery, near Cridersville. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the service, Monday, at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita’s Hospice.
