Janice Burden, 85

Janice Marie Burden, 85, of rural Spencerville, died at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born May 21, 1926, in Delphos, the daughter of Esther Mame Rohr and Harry Fredrick Werner, who preceded her in death. On June 10, 1945, she married Billy Douglas “Bill” Burden, who survives,
Also surviving are two daughters, Virginia Miriam “Ginny” (Douglas) Pentenberg, of Jefferson, Ga., Miriam Faith (Dale) German, of Spencerville; six grandchildren, Tony Guidera, of Nashville, Tenn., Kristin (Travis) Billman, of Dacula, Ga., Brent (Johnnie) Pentenberg, of Gainesville, Ga., Nicole German, of Spencerville, Shanna German, of Spencerville, and Derik German, of Spencerville; a great-grandson, Logan Guidera, of Nashville, Tenn., and a sister-in-law, Peggy Werner, of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Douglas Burden, who died in an auto accident in 1967, and a brother, Melvin Paul Werner.
She was a graduate of Lima Central High School and went on to work at the Lima Ordnance Depot during World War II, where she met her husband. Later she became a nurse’s aide and worked at the Delphos Memorial Nursing Home for 16 years. She was a member of the Hartford Christian Church, where she had been a SS teacher and a Prayer Warrior for the church. She enjoyed baking, reading, flowers, antiquing and entertaining.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hartford Christian Church in rural Spencerville, with the Rev. Robert King officiating. Burial will follow at the Hartford Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials can be given to the church.
